“Saints Alive”

When you hear the word “saint,” what comes to mind? Someone pious? Beyond the ability to relate to the rest of us? Well, think again! Come and listen to the stories of several women saints, from the dawn of Christianity down to the present day. Their stories are compelling, their struggles not unlike our own, their lives an inspiration. We tell the stories of (1) Prisca and Phoebe, highly praised by Paul, and leaders of their churches, (2) Perpetua, 3rd century martyr, (3) Elizabeth Ann Seton, educator and founder of the first order of women religious in this country… also the mother of five children, (4) Josephine Bakhita, whose life spanned the 19th and 20th centuries, and Teresa Benedicta (otherwise known as Edith Stein), a woman caught up in the Nazi holocaust. Music, Scripture proclamation by heart and liturgical dance fills out this program.
