This program was written for one of the monthly Tuesday evenings of prayer, held at the SSJ Motherhouse. It is prayerful. It is also challenging, the stories of five very different advocates for peace in our times: (1) Mary Bourke Robinson, first woman president of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, (2) Leymah Gbowe from Liberia, who gathered Christian and Muslim women together to address the horrors of the regime of Charles Taylor, (3) Mother Teresa, (4) Immaculee Ilibagiza from Rwanda, working for peace in her terror strewn land, and (5) Sr. Dorothy Stang, working with and for poor peasants in the jungles of Brazil. We include liturgical dance, moments of meditation, intercessory prayer and music, along with the stories of these courageous women.
